A Message From Bob

My name is Bob. I don't use a last name because "Bob" is easy for everyone to remember.

I was born in 1937. It's 2020 and I'm still around. I have my share of aches and pains and other changes that occur in the aging process. One thing that doesn't change is my love for music. Jazz is at the top of my list and I thrive on the improvisation and at times the dissonance that appears in music. I do listen to country, rock, blues and gospel to round out my love of music. I recently watched the Ken Burns "Country Music" series made with his usual excellence. I found it fascinating because of how much I could relate to many of the featured people. Listen to it all and you'll find your appreciation grows as you gain knowledge of the artists.

Important: Music is an ongoing challenge. Find what pleases you and you'll continue to grow as your soul and  body and reach out for more. When your heart starts pounding and your inner reflection starts glowing at the music choices your outlook on your surroundings improves. Now let's listen to a selection for you to assess. I selected a Ramsey Lewis recording played live at the Lighthouse CafĂ©, Hermosa Beach, October 14-17, 1965. It still rings my chimes.

Okay what did hear? A band playing an improvisational arrangement of "The More I See You." It's played in a "straight ahead" style of the day with selective improvisation of the melody. The expression used by the musicians made it all the better. Turn the lights down and sit with your significant other and hold their hand and start the song. Did it tug at you a little? Since I lived in that era it did indeed work for me.
