Shirley Horn
A consummate Jazz pianist and vocalist.
My wife and I saw her perform at the Sanger Theater during the New Orleans Jazz
and Heritage festival in the early 2000s. She played for years in the Washington
D.C. area with her beautiful music. She collaborated with all the Jazz greats. Unfortunately,
she passed away in 2005 at age 71. To not have her in this 2020 Jazz blog would
be an unpardonable mistake on my part. People need to hear how she caressed a
song in the Jazz genre. Regrettably, in today’s world music tastes no linger appreciate
a songstress of her caliber. YouTube features much of her music, listen and
enjoy and you’ll find something new enters into your life.
When you listen to the song with your significant other let the music flow through your soul and open your heart to experience the love you have for one another. It's going to make a difference in how you appreciate what the two of you have in this life.
