Christian McBride represents the quality of musician that
others enjoy working with to achieve perfection. Providing a rock-solid bass that oozes interpretation
and exploratory finesse enhances the groups he works with, inclusive of his big
band. His radio program on Sirius radio features selected jazz artists on every
Saturday morning. He is genuine ambassador for the genre. Discovering him a few
years back made my personal jazz experience better.
“Usta Could” Live studio Session
In this studio session Christian shows us how he uses his
talent in the studio and plays to perfection. The accompanist on piano is no
slouch either. Do you find your toe tapping out the beat and you either humming
or adding you own jazz licks as well? Good, now you’re getting it! Sometimes I
sit in my small kingdom and play brushes along with the music while humming
bass to see if I am catching the essence of what I hear. Working with an
excellent bassist makes the other’s play with more effort which is a good thing. Christian is a man of and in the future of Jazz.
